Types of Aid
There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to financial aid.
We offer a variety of financial aid options to help you invest in your future with confidence:
Scholarships & Grants
Think of these as gifts you don’t have to repay! From academic scholarships to grants for military families and ministry-minded students, there’s often something for everyone.
Federal & State Aid
Eligible students may apply for opportunities like federal Pell Grants, Work-Study programs, and state scholarships designed to lighten the load by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
Student Loans
Many students use federal or private student loans as part of their financial plan. Federal loans often provide lower interest rates and flexible repayment options. Our financial aid team is here to help you understand your options and make informed decisions.

Paying Your Bill
We understand that everyone’s financial situation is different and we offer flexible ways to handle tuition costs:
Online Payment Portal
Pay your tuition quickly and securely from the comfort of your home. Log into MyCIU using your username and password. Click on the Finances tab at the top of the homepage. Click Make Payment under My Financial Account.
International Payments
College Savings Plan (529)
College Savings Plan payments can be sent directly to Columbia International University. You should work directly with your plan administrator to initiate the payment process. To ensure accurate and timely processing, please make checks payable to Columbia International University and include your Student Identification Number.

Payment Plan
Columbia International University offers flexible payment plans for all students. The payment plan is available for the fall, spring and summer. If you would like to enroll for either of these term plans, you must enroll at the beginning of each term. Please note that you will not be automatically enrolled for the following semester. The payment plan is not a loan program and the service is provided interest-free.
Log into MyCIU and go to the Finances tab. Scroll down to Payment Plans and select the appropriate plan.
Mail
Checks and money orders are the only form of payment accepted via mail. Using the PDF of your eBill, print and return with your payment. To ensure accurate and timely processing, please make checks payable to Columbia International University and include your Student Identification Number. Allow seven (7) days for mailing to ensure proper credit.

Wire Transfers
Please include the student’s name and student ID number with the transfer notes. Wire transfers will be posted to your student account within 1-3 business days of bank notification. For deposit account information, please contact the Office of Student Accounts at (803) 807-5016.
Additional Information
Payment Deadlines
Settlement of tuition charges are due by the first day of class each semester as set forth on the Academic Calendar. When paying online, payments are posted to the student account in real-time. Allow 24-48 hours for removal of accounting holds on your student account.
Overpayment
If there is an overpayment on your account, you will receive a refund within thirty (30) days. Refunds are issued by check or credited to the original payment source.
Returned Checks
If your payment is refused by your bank, CIU will add a $25.00 returned check fee to your total account in addition to a late payment fee if applicable.
Declined Credit Cards
You will be notified if your payment has been denied by your bank. A late payment fee will be applied to your account if applicable.
Authorized Person
Students are able to designate someone, such as a parent, guardian or spouse, as an authorized person to view your account information and to make payments towards your account. In order for a third party to obtain financial information regarding a students’ account, permission must be granted in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). A FERPA form must be completed by the student to give CIU permission to release financial information to a third party.
