Description

CIU Nursing clinical adjunct instructors maintain responsibility for nursing students during their rotations in our partner facilities. They will coordinate with the didactic instructor of the course to ensure students are implementing clinical skills at a level appropriate to their knowledge base and clinical experience. Instructors will also coordinate with the employees of our partner facilities who will maintain ultimate responsibility for the care of their patients at all times. Adjunct Clinical Faculty work on a contract basis, and course clinical rotations take place over a maximum of four weeks. Different courses have different clinical hour requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Any required orientation of partner facility.
  • Weekly phone call with course didactic instructor during clinical portion of course (last four weeks).
  • Compliance with partner facilities’ policies regarding background checks, drug screens, and immunizations.
  • Supervision of full clinical shifts with students.
  • Pay hourly based on degree preparedness; prep and orientation hours included.

Spring 2025 Details:

1. Adult Health I (med-surg) — Lexington Medical Center

  • Orientation TBD
  • Wednesdays and Thursdays, February 19–20, 26–27, March 5–6
  • OR, Fridays and Saturdays, February 14, 20–21, 27–28, March 6
  • 60 clinical hours

2. Pediatrics Clinical Instructor — Prisma

  • Orientation and dates TBD
  • 36 clinical hours between April 8–May 3. No Mondays

Qualifications

  • Current valid and unencumbered SC nursing license
  • Current CPR (AHA-BLS certification)
  • Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred
  • Clinical supervision experience preferred
