If you’re academically-driven and always up for a challenge, then the Honors Program at CIU is for you.
This rigorous program will take your college education to the next level through active participation and deep intellectual engagement. Being an Honors student also enhances your academic journey by sharpening your skills in your chosen field and preparing you for your career or advanced graduate study.
CIU Honors Program Benefits
- Additional Scholarship Funds – Honors students receive $5,000 in scholarship funds per year; renewable for up to four academic years.
- Honors-Specific Classes – Your major offers honors classes that are designed to provide a more in-depth level of study.
- Collaborative Learning Environment – You’ll engage with and build connections with like-minded students, as you support each other and work toward your goals.
- Faculty Mentorship – The benefits of working one-on-one with faculty are far-reaching. They will help you develop both written and oral communication skills, increase your research abilities, and encourage critical thinking.
How to Apply
Admission to the CIU Honors Program is reserved for campus-based undergraduate students, and requires a separate application from the CIU admission application.
Requirements
- Standardized Test Scores – Minimum of a 1280 on the SAT, a 27 on the ACT, or a 84 on the CLT.
- GPA – Minimum 3.75 on an unweighted 4.0 scale.
Admission
Once you have been accepted to CIU, if you meet the above requirements, you will receive an invitation to apply to the program. Complete the Honors application, and your admission counselor will let you know once the Honors faculty has made an admission decision.
In order to keep the Honors program as personalized as possible, spaces are limited. That means the sooner you apply to CIU, the sooner you can receive your invitation to apply, so don’t wait!
